Q: Apple TV not showing up in airplay.

OK so here is my problem. I am at my fathers house. I want to show a video on his tv using his apple tv. But under the airplay icon his apple tv doesn't show up. I can see his apple tv in iTunes and play music or a movie using it on his tv but I cannot see it using airplay to mirror my desktop. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

We solved the problem. After reading several other posts about problems with ATV we checked the OS. Sure enough there was an update. After updating the software it worked as it was supposed to. Now it gives me confidence to get one of the new ATV for myself.
