Q: Photos keeps crashing

Hi!

My wife is uploading photos to the Photos app on her Macbook Air. Here are the laptop's specs.

OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 Macbook Air 13 inch mid 2011 1.7GHz Intel Core i5 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

We start the app now and after about a minute or so it crashes and says that the app quit unexpectedly.

I've shut down the laptop completely and left it off for a bit. No clue on what to do next. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

As a test launch Photos with the Option key held down and see if you can create a new, test library. If so import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

It the new library doesn't crash then repair your current library according to the instructions in this Apple document: Repair Your Library.

Note: If you use iCloud Photo Library with Photos, this action will cause Photos to upload all your pictures again (from Fix missing or incorrect thumbnails in Photos - Apple Support).
