In iPhoto 9.6.1 you can add a place in layout mode. Zoom in on the map and ctrl-click the location on the Map, then select "Add Place".
In the "Options" mode you should be able to press the "+" button and enter a name for the place. Photos will search for the location by name. You can also ctrl-click the map and add the place manually.
What happens when you try to add a place? Do you get an error message?

When i go in the option i see the box where you can add places but when i press + to add a place it does not allow me do add a place nothing is moving
That is where i am stock My internet connection is working
Do you have any advice on how to deal with this

Jan 2, 2016 1:15 AMby léonie,HelpfulI see. Photos is a completely different application from iPhoto. You could still be using iPhoto, if you update it to version 9.6.1, however that is only possible, if iPhoto is showing in your Purchases history at the AppStore,

But to add location markers on the map in a book in Photos ctrl-click the map where you want to add the marker and then select "Drop pin" from thecontextual menu.
The "+" button is not working for me either after the afdate to MacOS X 10.11.2.
