Q: Time Machine Sparse Bundle Unmounting
Hello all,
I recently purchased a 5TB NAS device to use as a primary backup for the 5 computers on my home network. Out of those 5, 3 are Macs running OS X 10.11. In order to use Time Machine on the NAS, I created Sparse Bundle Disk Images, and used those as the Time Machine destination. This works fine on two of the three computers. On the one computer (MacBook 12in), I can backup to the drive fine, but sometimes, when the computer goes into sleep mode for an extended period of time, the Sparse unmounts. If i manually remount it, everything is fine again. The one thing that is strange to me is that the parent disk, as well as another network drive remain mounted, and the sparse bundle is the only thing that unmounts. I have an AppleScript that I wrote in my login items which mounts all three network drives, (Drive 1, Drive 2, and Sparse) and I also manually put the Sparse into login items. I may also note that the computer I am having trouble with is the only one connecting to the drive over Wi-Fi. This is causing a problem with my Time Machine as the comouter is unable to backup overnight.
Thanks, and as always, any help is appreciated.
Ryan
