Q: Powerbeats headphones with apple watch drops connection

I have successfully paired a new Dr Dre Powerbeats headphones. I am at the gym working out. I just have the Apple Watch and Dr Dre Powerbeats headphones. I can play Itunes songs from the watch. I find that movement on a weighted crunch machine at the gym causes the Apple Watch to drop the bluetooth signal with the headphones. This would only occur at a full extension. I return to the starting position, and the watch would re-sync with the headphones.

This same issue happened when around other metal equipment. The next day I used my headphone paired with my Ipod touch. I didn't experience any drops with the Ipod touch. Any thoughts? Will a software update fix this issue?

    I have the same issue.

I'm mainly affected on the rowing machine.  If I connect the head phones to my iPhone its ok even if I leave that the other side of the gym.

Apple retail store replaced the head phones first, watch just returned from apple - no fault found.

@Apple, please could you shorten my arms to fix this issue as clearly you're not going to sort the watch out any time soon.

I may have found my remedy.  I shut off bluetooth on my iPhone, which stays in my locker.  Music on my Apple Watch played for over 30 minutes without issues.

Another update with my Plantronics BackBeat Go 2.  Again, I turned Bluetooth off on my iPhone and left it in my locker.  I have 1gig worth of songs on the watch.  Had flawless audio for over an hour on my Apple Watch everywhere in the gym.

    Hi everyone

I have a solution until Apple fixes this problem. This works for me and i hope for you too.

I use the Phillips bluetooth headphones and have the same problem. This was my fix.

I have 2 options, either keep my phone on me or keep it in the locker on airplane mode.

To me, the problem seems to be when your watch and phone are on the far boarder of being in range. Maybe its just gone out of range and is trying to get back in range.

Then your watch seems to try connect to your phone and cuts the music to your bluetooth device. Sometimes the watch doesn't even connect to the phone but i think they start the communication process to connect and fall out of range again. If the phone is on you (like in your pocket) , the watch is constantly connected so no music cut if you are playing via the phone or the watch.  If your phone is on airplane mode in the locker its not going to connect either so constant music from your watch.

I found this solution when i realized that my music kept getting cut from my watch only in one area of the gym. And directly below me was the lockers. Since I turned my phone to airplane, or kept it on me connected I have had no issues.

Just my troubleshooting solution. Not saying its the right one for everyone but it works for me.

worth a try.   it's happening to me too.    i was almost wondering if other bluetooth devices around me were messing up the connection.

    Hi

i have exactly the same problem when using the powerbeats2 wireless with my Apple watch in the gym. It constantly connects and disconnects  I have spent already nearly 1,5 hours in calls with the Apple support team - no help! I will continue to open incident tickets with them.....

Before using Bluetooth headphones with Apple Watch, it may help with connectivity to first unpair the headphones from any other device that they are already paired with.

For example, if the headphones are already paired with your iPhone:

    - On your iPhone go to: Settings > Bluetooth.

    - Find the headphones in the list, then tap on Forget this Device.

I have switched the Apple Watch from my left to the right wrist and turned on the fly mode on the iPhone: bluetooth connection did not break and  I could listen to music from my watch during work out.

Just to add in my frustration.. I've seen several on here report that if you place your apple watch on your right hand, you won't get the audio dropouts when walking/jogging.  I've always kept my phone in my left pants pocket but just for the **** of it, I decided to try placing my iPhone 6 in my right pants pocket (watch still on left wrist) and going for a big walk.  I don't think I had a single dropout my entire 20-25 min speed walk which I normally had maybe 5-10 regular dropouts in podcasts or music.  I will keep trying this, but if it remains stable, I'd much rather have my phone on my right side than put my apple watch on my right wrist..  If this really is software related, Apple needs to fix this with urgency!

I saw this issue yesterday, and was able to rectify it today by taking off bluetooth on my iphone.

I think that maybe the the headphones were seeing the phone and disconnecting from the watch intermittently.

This happens to me while running.  The music intermittently cuts in and out while using the bluetooth connection between Apple Watch and Plantronic

Backbeat Fit earphones.  The interesting thing is it only happens when my arm is swinging by my waist.  If I hold my watch arm next to my ear, it works fine.  I ran three miles that way and got a lot of strange looks.

Wow; look at this laundry list of complaints from people who are having the same issue as me. Well, count me in on this too. I've spent hours with apple and beats trying to figure out what is happening and I've asked them if anyone else was having issues, all of them told me no. An Apple rep told me to send in my watch and we will test it, but it can take a couple weeks for you to get your watch back.  Very disappointed, I've spent a lot of $$ on apple products and thought this would be a top priorities to fix this issue. makes me think twice now from buying anything else. come on Apple, please fix :

One thing I have done was bought a mpow wireless connector, it's $20, you can connect any headphones and I haven't had any issues with it dropping from my watch. not sure why beats and apple watch drop off so much. please help.
