Feb 26, 2015 4:11 AM in response to meganzaby dominic23,Reindex Spotlight.
Spotlight reindexing will take a while to finish.
System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409
You will see a new category “Other” in the Storage Display.
About “Other”:

If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the desktop,

Jan 2, 2016 6:39 PM in response to dominic23by Damageboss,Hello dominic23,
My Macintosh HD on my desktop states that I have 88 GB avail. from 159 GB HD.
OSx utility, omnidisksweeper and istat pro widget all say that I only have 33 GB avail.
I used omnidisksweeper yesterday to clear items taking up room.
Omnidisksweeper just swept my HD and states I am only using 64.5 GB
I am confused with this discrepancy.
Please help.

Also, using omnidisksweeper, I can not delete any of the backups from my mac book pro.
I tried to delete the entire folder that said mac book pro but it keeps coming back.
I am using a 2TB external portable HD but the backup size goes above 3TB.

Jan 2, 2016 7:57 PM in response to dominic23by Damageboss,Hello again,
Just used bootcamp assistant to check the size of Mac HD to verify the actual size of the HD to see if I had enough room to install windows 7 in boot camp and it stated I only had 37GB avail.
I definitely don't know what to do now?

Jan 4, 2016 11:29 AM in response to Damagebossby Eric Root,They will be deleted as required. From the 2nd linked article.
To make sure that you have storage space when you need it, Time Machine creates and retains local snapshots only when there is plenty of free space on your startup drive:
- If less than 20% of the total storage space on your startup drive is available, Time Machine removes local snapshots, starting with the oldest, until you have more than 20% free space.
- If less than 10% or less than 5GB of storage space is available, Time Machine removes local snapshots more quickly. When only one snapshot remains, Time Machine stops creating new snapshots. As free space increases, Time Machine at first replaces the previous snapshot with a new one, then eventually resumes creating snapshots as normal.

Jan 4, 2016 8:20 PM in response to Eric Rootby Damageboss,Hello Eric,
Not trying to drag this on, is there any way for me to manual delete 54 GB of backups on my Mac HD?
I backup my Mac, via an external HD using time machine.
I really need that HD space so I can install windows 7 using boot camp.
Please help me to free up this valuable HD space?

Jan 4, 2016 11:19 PM in response to Eric Rootby Damageboss,Hello Eric,
Not sure what happened, but the 54 GB of backup storage went away and has now freed all the HD space.
I now have 86 GB of HD space available.
Istat pro, Omnidisksweeper, and the actual HD all match noting 87 GB of HD available.
My mobile backups drive is completely full showing 159GB.
Is there a way to clear that drive or folder?
Thank you for your help thus far, it is much appreciated.
