Q: Updating iPad: error code 9

Before trying to update my mothers old iPad 2, everything worked just fine. When I started updating it in iTunes some errors popped up. Now it's in recovery mode (also tried DFU), but whenever I try to recover the iPad it keeps telling me it: 'The iPad iPad cant be recovered. An error occured: unknown error 9'. I tried different cables, different computers, disabled my firewall and antivirus.. Nothing works. I also downloaded the ipsw but I cant seem to get it on the iPad.
I'm reading that it's a hardware issue and that the ipad will probably never work again. Is this true? Is there nothing I can do?

    Hi

have you fix it your issue? any advice?

I have facing a same issue when I tried to update and restore iOS 9.2. My brothers is iPad 2, he ask me to update the iOS(current iOS 5.0.1) but when I tried to update using wi-fi it's just stuck in iOS 6.1.3 and it's just have one option "Install" when I choose "Install" button. it's end with error  "Unable to update".

So I am decide to try update the iPad using iTunes. First Before to do an update, I was already backup it using iTunes.

When I tried update using iTunes, the iTunes asking an update and download the iOS. It tooks 2 hours for downloading iOS.

After the download has finish, the iPad was reboot itself and changes to in recovery mode and then after that the error code 9 appears.

I have already to google, chat to apple support and ask to Authorize Service Center (iBox) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

They have asking me to do some same instructions.

    - Change USB cable

    - Plug into another USB port

    - Install the latest iTunes.

    - Check security software ( I have already recovery my laptop into factory default, uninstall all antivirus, windows firewall, windows firewall )

    - Reboot the laptop or using another laptops ( I have tried in 2 laptops and I have tried in Apple Store itself using their Mac )

    - The worst advice is when I chat with apple support, they says my Internet Service Provider (ISP) is blocking the connection when the iPad is verifying to apple server. ( I have 3 different ISP but it's not working )

    - Some says in google I found some advice to changes host files in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host ( it's not working also )

Please kindly let me know who is able to fix error code.
