Jan 3, 2016 1:47 PM in response to iMachiaby royopp,Sounds like many of you are having problems with iTunes and the iTunes store purchases as well. This is why I still purchase CD's . I like to have the hard copy so at least it's just my time being waisted for the most part. I can't imagine the pain of losing all my music and then having to repurchase it. As a drummer I like to put my practice list on my IPOD touch and crank it through my PA system. Does anyone have any better choice for playing music besides Apple product ? They no longer make the IPOD Classic that held a crap load of music. Maybe I need to get away from iTunes if it magically makes my music disappear.

Jan 3, 2016 2:28 PM in response to royoppby turingtest2,I use MediaMonkey occasionally, but iTunes is what I use all the time. I got bit a while back when it synced podcast settings from my iPhone to the library and deleted a bunch of archived episodes. I restored them from backup. It has never deleted anything else that I haven't asked it to. If you use this suggested backup technique and review each update to the backup set before it runs you'll always be able to see what is going on.

Jan 4, 2016 1:46 AM in response to royoppby iMachia,I bought a turntable and some (vinyl) records. That also has to do with the (bad) quality of a MP3.
Well, there is al lot more than Apple... Maybe a DAT-recorder on eBay or a new Sony Walkman Pro.

Jan 4, 2016 2:21 AM in response to turingtest2by iMachia,I do use Time Machine. But with 2.000 albums it's a lot of work, If you need to repair your library again and again!
But iTunes is, starting with version 11, the problem. Too big to handle. With a shop, a library for music, movies and books and a player. And a steaming service and a Match-service.
So Apple should divide iTunes in 4 or 5 pieces and give more attention to the musical quality. But they won't do that.
