Jan 4, 2016 7:57 PM in response to rkaufmann87by tourdriven,Thanks. I Just tried a few times and it still shuts off when the login bar is about 1/4 across the screen. Any additional tips would be greatly appreciated. I would like to take another copy of the hard drive onto an external drive prior to having to wipe the system clean. Thanks again.

I suspect the HD has failed and must be replaced. Take the machine to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be professionally diagnosed. If you don't know of any in your area please click Apple Authorized Service Provider Locator to begin finding one.
