Jan 4, 2016 9:31 PM in response to chrootby Duane,The odds are that it has already been loaded. That is why it is no longer compatible.
a) Which exact Macbook Pro do you have? In About this Mac -> System Profiler, it will say "MacBook Pro ....". What does it say after "MacBook Pro"?
b) What is the exact firmware that you believe should have been loaded?

Jan 4, 2016 9:46 PM in response to chrootby my ginger,Are you sure that you need it and are you sure you downloaded the right one? If you go to the upper left menu and click on the apple then about this mac. You can go to systems an look at model identifier. Then depending on what model and screen size find the right firmware. There are three. if you have a13' there is only one. If a 15' then is it with retina or without, because that is two different firmware updates. The model identifier tells you which one. Also when you were in about this mac systems, take note of what SMC firmware. is installed. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201518 Even if you download the right one, it still may tell you ,you don't need it.
