The Apple Thunderbolt Display (27-inch) is not compatible with MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015).

Acer and Lenovo have announced new Monitors with USB-C that are compatible with your Mac.

Depending on the vintage and specification of a display with a 'display port' compatible

jack or plug, it may be able to use an adapter sold separately as noted in Apple articles.

    • Using the USB-C port and adapters on your MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) - Apple Support

There are more adapters than those shown in the above article; so you may need to visit

an Apple Store (retail) or a better stocked up-to-date authorized reseller, to see what fits.

And just because some may fit, does not mean compatibility of purpose, so ask about the

returns policy before you buy and/or leave the store. Official Apple Stores have a uniform

policy on returns in most countries; however Apple authorized resellers have their own.

If the display is a Thunderbolt, and not an older Aluminum Apple Cinema display the type

or kind of adapter would vary; and compatibility is probably documented online. Not knowing

which product you actually have, nor what kind of adapters you tried, I'm unable to go further.

    In any event...

    Good luck & happy computing!
