Q: New Apple TV paired with old remote

My new apple tv autopaired with my old (aluminum) remote and not my new Siri remote. Tried removing batteries from aluminum and restarting to no avail. Any ideas for pairing with new remote?

Is the old (aluminium) remote the only one you've used, i. e. did you use that before you tried your new Siri remote?

Check Settings -> Remotes and devices. There you might be able to manually pair the Siri remote.

From Charge your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote - Apple Support:

"Pair your remote again. Put your Siri Remote within three inches of your Apple TV, and point it at the front of your Apple TV. Then press and hold the Menu and Volume Up buttons for five seconds."

So I wasn't able to pair manually through settings. That said, I called Apple and they told me to hold Menu and Volume Up on the Siri Remote and Walla - was able to pair it.

Not sure why I didnt run into that solution on the forums but happy now. Thanks for input, Skruttdegen!
