Jan 6, 2016 3:02 AM in response to robertsvcby Jonathan UK,Hi - check that:
- Your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.
- When using the Remote app on your watch, your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth.
- Your Apple TV is awake before you open the Remote app on Apple Watch (where you can choose Apple TV and access menu options).
To check whether your watch is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth, open the Settings Glance:
- When viewing the time on your watch face, swipe up on the screen, then swipe left / right until you find the Settings Glance.
- Connected and a green phone symbol means that your watch is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth.
- Swipe down again to return to the watch face.
It may help to remove your watch from Remotes on your Apple TV and then add it back:
- On your Apple TV, go to: Settings > General > Remotes, then select your watch under iOS Remotes to remove it.
- On your watch, open the Remote app: if the “lost connection” message appears, tap Remove.
Before adding your watch again, check that your iPhone, Apple Watch and Apple TV are each updated to the latest software versions:
- Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- Update the software on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
- Update the software on your Apple TV - Apple Support
If your software is already up to date, it may also help - before adding your watch again - to restart all three devices (turn your iPhone and watch off together, then restart your iPhone first):
- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support
- How to restart your Apple TV - Apple Support
When setting up your watch as a remote, check that you are following the instructions here:
- Use Apple Watch as a remote control for iTunes or Apple TV
