Q: kernel panic

I have for some time now received these lovely kernel panic reports. And last night i tried to reinstall OS X and hoping that it was a software problem (Maybe some old system files from a previous OS X version). But unfortunately it didn't help much, i have already received 2-3 random restart and now a kernel panic report.idea

I have no idea how to read these report, not even after i search widely among other users kernel panic reports and tried to compare them to mine. So i hoping that someone here is a better tech expert than me and could help me look into this panic report.

I have the following spec:

- Macbook Pro (Retina 15'', 2013 ultimo)

- CPU: 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7

- Ram: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

- Graphic: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I have an Apple Thunderbolt Display 27'' connected. But i also receive these kernel panic without it connected. So doesn't think it has something to do with the displays attached.

Hopefully someone here can help me figuring this one out.

The Panic report is this:

Do you have anything in the SDXC slot?  If so, take it out.  If there are any other peripherals connected, disconnect them.

    Look through this support article:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553

    Ciao.

Nope i don't have anything in the SDXC slot. And now that i think about it i don't think i have ever had anything inserted in that slot.

I have already gone through that support article and tried severals thing from it etc. Disk repair, reinstall. I cannot seem to locate the problem from even with that support article

I will try to get some assistance from my ASC colleagues to look at your kernel panic report.  I cannot tell you how long this may take.

I can't contribute much, other than to ask if all the RAM modules are 'stock RAM' supplied with the computer, or did you add some third-party modules yourself?

Incompatible or damaged RAM can often be the cause of KP's. If you did did add RAM and you still have the stock RAM try just running with that to see if the KP's stop.

Though itt may be a RAM issue but a retina MBP RAM cannot be altered.

Did some research myself earlier today and found out the its not possible to change the RAM in this retina Do you know if you can change the Logic board or is it cheaper to just buy a whole new MBP?

Do not despair yet.  There still my be others to offer their views.

Keep in mind that an appointment at an Apple store genius bar is always a good option.  There they can advise you the coasts involved for replacing a logic board and then you can make an informed decision.  They may also be able to determine what is causing the kernel panics.

I should have thought of this earlier. run Apple diagnostics, which may offer a clue:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731

    Ciao.

Unfortunately there are no official apple store or genius bar in Denmark. So thats is quite impossible unless im willing to travel.

Have already done several Apple Diagnostics which all comes back and says there aren't any error or dysfunctional parts.

It's just possible that the KP's are being triggered by some third-party software that is incompatible with the OS. You could download and run EtreCheck and post the contents of its report here. Someone may spot something and have some ideas:

Your kernel panic with MACHINE CHECK and detected by multiple processors indicates a serious Hardware problem. The problem may be an Internal problem with processor caches or internal pathways, or some other problem internal to the processor.

If this were a Xeon processor, this is what an uncorrectable RAM error would look like. I suspect your processor caches are damaged. Regardless, the processor is not in a socket, so only fix on these boards is a motherboard replacement.

You are some what fortunate.  Grant Bennet-Alder is one of the very best on these forums but unfortunately has given you bad news.  My suggestion to you is to get the MBP to Apple or a competent repair facility.  One option you may consider is to contact Apple and arrange to ship the MBP to them.

    Ciao.
