deleted calendars keep coming back

Two calendars that were no longer needed were deleted many months ago from my Mac Calendar app. I also have deleted them them on my iPad and iPhone many, many times.

The two calendars have not reappeared on the Mac after being deleted, yet they keep reappearing on my iPhone and iPad after syncing. The calendars do not show up on the list of calendars after deletion, but they show up again after syncing. I sync daily but I do not check every day if those calendars are back.

Can you see them on iCloud.com?

The calendars deleted on my phone and iPad last night showed up following a sync this morning.

I do not use Google or Outlook, never have never will.

iCloud only has reminders, notes, news, and find my phone turned on. There are ten other email accounts (I check the mail for various organizations and groups beside my own domain).

I do not find anything in mail that links to calendars.

Syncing is done daily to iTunes on the Mac because I do not use the cloud except for only notes, reminders, and find my phone.

I did find the two deleted calendars show up in Info on iTunes sync. Since the sync all calendars was checked, they would keep coming back. However, there is no way to delete those two calendars in iTunes that should disappear from the list when they were no longer on the Mac Calendar and iPhone.

I experimented with the iPhone calendar list and rather than just delete the two calendars as I had been doing, I first unchecked the offending calendars, then deleted it. So far, that seems to have corrected the problem, as they did not come back after repeated syncing. Without doing anything additional on the iPad after the iPhone changes, those listings also disappeared on the iPad and in the iTunes listing.

Weird and wasn't at all intuitive.

I think I have found the actual problem.

I happened to find, by accident, in Reminders on my Mac that there is a default list under the Reminders menu line that had all the calendar listings including the ones I have been trying to delete. One has to open the sidebar (another surprise) to see the list and to be able to delete unwanted items. Apparently the Mac version allows reminders under each calendar item as well as having the combined list. iOS only uses a single combined list. Reminders is one of only three minor features I use of the cloud.

Those two calendars have now been deleted and hoping that takes care of the problem once and for all. Thanks Apple for having a probably undocumented "feature" only on the Mac app.
