Calibrating your watch will enable it to more accurately estimate various fitness and activity-related results. Calibration teaches your watch how your arm movements relate to your stride lengths at different speeds when you are walking and/or running.

Jan 6, 2016 11:17 AM in response to Jonathan UKby Lastingimage88,I did the steps in calibration. Today was the first I noticed it counting steps while I was In car. I was actually the passenger the car. It was approximately a 3 hour ride.

Jan 6, 2016 11:33 AM in response to Lastingimage88by Jonathan UK,Calibration is an ongoing process: whenever you walk or run outside using your iPhone and the Workout app, your watch will continues to calibrate the accelerometer.
If you would prefer to reset the data and start again:
On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Privacy > Motion & Fitness > tap on Reset Calibration Data.
