Q: 5 sec. lag after entering my password

I updated my 2014 macbook pro retina 15" from yosemite to el capitan. On El Capitan, everything feels as run smooth and fast, except when I turn on my computer/ wake it from sleep and enter in my password, it takes 2-5 seconds to register that I have entered in the correct password and load up the desktop.

Any idea what happend?

actual it runs on OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.2 (15C50)

Hope someone can help me.

    Hey Wolfitown,

I understand that you are experiencing a slight delay when waking up your MacBook Pro. Let's see if we can get this sorted.

I would start with taking a look at the article below. Since your Mac does wake up but takes longer that you are expecting, you will want to look at the information outlined below.

If your Mac doesn't wake when you expect

Your Mac might pause a few seconds before it wakes up. If it doesn't seem to wake at all, check for these possibilities:

    • Your screen brightness might be turned down.
    • If you're using an external display, your display might be turned off.
    • Your Mac might be in safe sleep. To wake from safe sleep, press the power button.
    • Check for a sleep indicator light, if applicable, and make sure that your Mac isn't turned off.

If the previous steps don't work

These additional steps may help identify or resolve the issue:

    • Reset the SMC.
    • Reset NVRAM.
    • Disconnect external devices other than your Apple keyboard, mouse, and display. If that resolves the issue, gradually reconnect your devices, testing each time, until you find the device that is interfering with sleep. Then check the documentation that came with the device, or contact the device manufacturer.
    • Start up in Safe Mode to see if the issue is related to non-Apple startup items, login items, or kernel extensions.
    • Try to isolate the issue by using another user account

    Hi norm123,

thanks for response and for the information. But its not this kind of problem.

my macbook wake up fast from standby.

The exactly issue is, I enter my passwort to unlock the screen. If I press return than I have to wait for 5 sec. untyl my desktop appears.

If I restard the mac it needs only 2 seconds to show my desktop, but after a while in use the lag time increase to 5 sec.

    So I tried something out.

I use the same password to unlock my mac and login for iCloud.

I seperate the passwords and now I its fast, after entering my password and press return the desktop appeared immediately.

But that is not a good solution. Before update to el capitan there was no problem. And my college with a older macbook have no problems.
