Q: iPhone 5S is completely out of control after updating to iOS 9.2

This is an utter madness!! I have an iPhone 5S I bought in 2013. Had no issues with it whatsoever until now when I thought I would update to a new iOS system, 9.2. Absolutely wrong decision!!!

I have messages disappearing continuously, also they are not delivered. I can't send images anymore. Previously the names of my contacts disappeared since then they are back. But dreading it happens again! Can't open almost any of my apps! I had a voicemail I saw getting it but no missed call in my list!! The battery is acting up like crazy!!

WHAT IS GOING ON??

I thought of Apple as the God of telecommunication but this is not going well here!

You fixed the Touch ID problem and created 80 more! How come?? You are supposed to be Apple, the best!! I don't expect this crazy mess from you at all! Or is it now Steve Jobs is gone=Apple is gone???

You better get every single technician and engineer worked on these problems day and night otherwise you will lose a lot of money and clients!

P.S. I got an appointment with Genius Bar on Saturday so hoping for a fix without losing any data!

What troubleshooting steps have you done?

Note: Every quarter Apple sold another 40 millions iPhones, where are they? in the cupboard?

FWIW, my iPhone 5, 5s, 6, 6s & 6s Plus all on iOS 9.2 and no issue to report.

Clearly, there is an issue! Please see below:

"I have messages disappearing continuously, also they are not delivered. I can't send images anymore. Previously the names of my contacts disappeared since then they are back. For troubleshooting I had switched off and on the phone about 1000 times. Not much changed. Sometimes it is better, sometimes it is worse!

I'm not going to start to restore it as I'm scared of losing my data. I'm still losing it sometimes anyway!

I have iPhone, mini iPad and MacBook, I'm a devoted Apple fan that is why I'm so angry! With one update it has gone crazy. I didn't expect this!

And reading the discussions I'm not alone! There are many people having different and same issues after updating to iOS 9.2 so don't say there is no issues.

That is not supported by Apple and consequently can cause major problems.

    1. iPhone and other Apple devices are computers.

    2. In this digital world, you should always make backups, did you?

If you don't then yourself is to blame.

    3. Switching on and off is one simple troubleshooting step,

here are the other basic steps:

    Force Restart

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559

    Restore from backup

    Restore as new

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252

And reading the discussions I'm not alone! There are many people having different and same issues after updating to iOS 9.2 so don't say there is no issues.

You are not alone but what about the other many millions of users who are enjoying iPhones?

You do know those who has no issue are not here?

If I could go back to the older version, trust me I would. That window, however, is closed and I'm not here to mess with nor jailbreak my phone.

    Ckuan,

    1. I know they are computers, but behind them there are humans who created them and maintaining them. However, I understand that things can go wrong.

    2. I haven't lost data YET! I only lost the names for some of my contacts I could add again manually. Not a big deal! But at some point all my names disappeared, as I mentioned before they came back and the rest I added again. So it seems there are fixes going on!

But the whole situation was uncalled for regarding in my world Apple is the best! And I have multiple problems not just one. And interestingly all the non-Apple apps are working but the Apple ones.

    3. I will try to restore my phone tonight but I haven't done such a thing ever on Apple product so I'm a little bit scared. I don't want to mess up anything...

    4. I understand you have to steer our conversation to a positive direction I worked in similar position. So here are my positive thoughts:

         1. I am a PROUD owner of an iPhone 5S, mini iPad, Mac Book and I forgot I have an iPod too!

         2. I have NO issues with any of those except the iPhone!

         3. I have just updated my iPad and have NO problems with it!

         4. Having a thought of getting a Samsung or other Android phone makes my flesh crawl. I had many different Android phones before and they started to have problems after one year. iPhone is the ONLY ONE I had no problems for 2 years at all (except the Touch ID but that is not essential) and if I didn't upgrade to the 9.2 who knows maybe 3 years or longer. It is pretty incredible!

         5. I love my iPhone therefore I will make all the effort to solve this problem with it even if it takes time. I was just expecting an acknowledgement from Apple that: "Yes, we know there are issues and we are working on them. And it takes 2 weeks or longer to solve. We are fixing this and that issues right now. We are working on the next upgrade that will be available about this time." Something like that, not a denial. It's about trust, and so far I trusted Apple! I also understand that all the technical engineers and developers are working hard, and all my appreciation to them. But we need information, I don't mind to wait for the fix!

P.S Thank you, Ckuan for the defensive conversation and I'm sorry you were the one picked on!

What is YT?  I really need to understand how to downgrade because it is clear to me with the issues I am experiencing on my iPhone 5S and the comments I see here, there is a big problem with this iOS 9.2.

Any advice on on to downgrade will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

My suggestion is to check your iPhone's available storage first. A full phone will cause big troubles! Even you were able to update but if there is 0 byte left on the phone you won't be able to open apps, send images, check your pictures, etc. I believe messages are fixed though!

Still sounds better than what mine kept doing after trying to install the first iOS 9.3 update, before they took it back… surprise surprise. And today it's re-rolled.
My phone kept going to the apple logo, then changing to spinning symbol, then black screen ∞ infinitely. Couldn't even go into DFU or otherwise turn it off. Just crazy. Just because my battery died and i recharged it, that's all it took for it to go nuts. (Not a fan of Apple without Steve) They are just not hard enough on themselves without him.
