Q: 'Done' but no Transaction Received

I have a BA American Express Credit Card registered with Apple Pay, everytime I attempt to use it the process seems to work correctly up until the point when the iPhone says 'Done'.  Sometimes it confirms the transaction within Passbook, other times it will not, but either way the transaction never takes place and no payment is received by the store.  The phone then goes back to the homescreen, where the process can be repeated to no avail.

 

I have registered a debit card with the phone and that is working perfectly through apple pay, in the same store, on the same contactless payment point, I receive the bleep and the vibration notification as the transaction goes through so it is definitely not a problem with the handset.  I have spoken with American Express and they claim it is definitely not a problem their end and that Apple Pay is at fault because they don't see any evidence of the transaction being received.  I have deleted and readded the Amex card, upgraded to the latest software release, reset the phone and powered off and on etc.

 

Anyone know what I can try next to put this right?

    I have had similar problems.  I only have an amex card registered.  But it never works at McDonalds or the CO-OP, but always at COSTA and BOOTS.

    I can't get it to work anywhere, I've tried Costa, Cafe Nero, Boots,  and McDonalds. Not one can seem to process the transaction despite the phone thinking it has worked successfully.

    I Have an Amex nectar card And I've tried 5 times. Bp, morissons x2, kfc and now McDonald's. Exactly the same thing happens. The system says "done" but no payment is received.

    i have a brand new Amex card so when I rang them they said my card was showing as pending but they changed that and as at today  it still doesn't work.

    Spoken to Amex they have a known problem with Mc Donald's, Tesco and Waitrose....

    othes should work!

    Didn't think tescos accepted contactless payments.

    USed my my apple watch at waitrose a couple of times with Amex and it has gone through no problem.

    Added 'Bills' to my list of retailers that do NOT work with Apple Pay and my American Express card today.  I have phone Amex twice and neither of the people I have spoken to have confirmed any known issue.  In fact they don't seem to know anything about it, literally nothing.  They just say "sorry it isn't working" and wish me luck before sending me on my way.

    Do you have a friend or family member with an iPhone 6 that you could try to add the card to and test it out?

    Used Apple Pay with Amex at Waitrose and it worked fine but it failed today at The Coop.

    Sale has registered on Passbook but did not go through at the store and has not (yet) shown up on 'recent transactions' on my Amex account.

    Anyone know what is happening here?

    I thinking it is an American Express issue. Worked at staples but failed at panera bread. If fact it has failed at panera at different locations. My debit card worked at whole foods but the Amex failed m

    I had this problem yesterday with my bank debit card. The transaction appeared to work, phone vibrated and the amount is showing as my recent transaction on the iPhone. However, the payment did not go through as far as the cashier was concerned so I paid using a different method. My bank were very interested and we checked to see if I had two pending transactions, which I did not. It appears that although Apple Pay registered the transaction it was never made. I have shopped successfully with Apple Pay at this store before. I have no idea where the glitch is but it is not great for Apple Pay if one can't feel confident using it.

    In the UK, McDonald's does not presently support using American Express cards via Apple Pay.
