Q: Gimmick

So, is this Airdrop **** just a gimmick, or is supposed to actually work? All my stuff is updated and it still doesn't work.

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.0.1

What happens when you try?
Do your devices meted the requirements?
Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac - Apple Support
I have used it successfully between my iPhone 6+, iPad 4 and 2013 Ma Pro

Your profile indicates you have an iPhone 3GS.

As it states in the article you attached, AirDrop requires an iPhone 5 or later.

Never had any problems. Try the following the steps in the document above. Also try this:

When Airdrop finally became available on all Apple devices (Macs, iPhones) about 2 years ago, it took me about 15 mins to get it working. After that, no problems since.
