Q: iOS 9/iTunes 12.3 not syncing app through devices

I've recently updated my IOS and ITUNES to the latest versions and when I sync my iphone is not syncing the apps automatically on my mac as it used to do before.

Is that a glitch of the new IOS?
Any easy solution to sort it out?

iPhone 6, iOS 9

There is some sort of problem with your system.  I maintain my updates and purchases

of apps, music, etc. within iTunes (PITA) and all the desired content will download to my iPhones

(6S an 4S, though the 4S is now just a glorified iPod and "smart" remote).  As a matter of fact,

downloaded the NFL app update and the Newegg app update to iTunes and synced them to my

phone this morning.  Using iTunes 12.3.2.25 and iOS 9.2 on both iPhones.

There may be an AppleID issue, device authentication issue. or some other library issue.

For example, if apps downloaded with one AppleID (or anything else for that matter) into an iTunes

library and the iDevice and its library is associated with a different AppleID, they won't sync.

I Am encouraged by your results but not working for me. No Apple ID issues since both iMacs support their own devices. Apple support says  its designed that way. I guess they don't know.

TThe one thing I do not do because of the need to manage bandwidth is allow automatic updates.

There still could be some mixup.  First, Open up Preferences->iCloud.  Click button Account Details.

It will then ask you for your password, then a ox will come up.  Select devices.  This will list all devices that

are accosted with the AppleID that you are logged in with.

Next, open iTunes.  Log into your account if not already (mine is always saved as logged in)

and select the Account Info item.  Then under "iTunes in the Cloud" select Mage Devices.

This will show the devices that have been associated to iTunes.  The two lists should be

    identical

I maintain separate Apple IDs for my iTunes purchases and for my devices.

While that may indeed be the issue, syncing has never been a problem prior iTunes 12.

All my devices are logged into the iTunes/App store with the same associated Apple ID that iTunes is logged into with my Mac.

Apple doesn't require a device's Apple ID and iTunes store account to be the same.

iTunes doesn't have any issues syncing any other data to my devices, including music, only apps.  I recently purchased an album on iTunes on my Mac, and it seamlessly transferred to my devices.  Apps do not.

And, I can still manually tell iTunes to sync updated apps to my devices.  It will happily send apps purchased via one Apple ID to a device "owned" by another Apple ID.

"it just worked" with iTunes 11 and prior.

Now, I am tempted to set up Family Sharing and see what effect it has, using my "iTunes" Apple ID as the master, and the devices' Apple ID as the members.  But I am leery that it will muck things up even further, and beyond.

Same here! (New apps downloaded after restore from backup not syncing to new device) Is it possible to download the apps again to the computer? It might solve our problem.

IT says : If your device is using iOS 9 or later, apps you download don’t transfer to iTunes.

If you want to download apps to iTunes, turn on Automatic Downloadsin iTunes Preferences. You can also download previously purchased apps from iTunes.

That is what Tech Support told me as well. Requires multiple download to update multiple devices. Management of bandwidth is no longer available?

If I understand correctly apps updated on my iPad (say at a coffee shop) must be redownloaded (using bandwidth) to the home iMac by choosing Automatic downloads. And presumably do not then transfer to other devices like iPhones without additional downloading And bandwidth use??

I Don't care if the IMac has the latest app updates but the goal is to update all I devices with the minimum bandwidth use. In rural America bandwidth is a precious commodity.

You can turn on automatic downloads but you don’t have to.

You can update them yourself in iTunes on you computer by downloading the updates.

When I do that iTunes does not transfer updates to the several other devices associated with the iMac. It appears to be device specific as far as updates go. Tech Support has been unusually  less than helpful. Again doing that does not avoid bandwidth use. I have a measly 25 GB per Month. And no other ISP,choice.

    What?

Manually downloading the apps in iTunes from the iTunes store downloads the exact same file as Automatic Downloads.

You then need to sync these devices to the Mac to update these apps on those devices.

It appears to be device specific as far as updates go

When you download the app on your computer, there is no iOS device so it cannot be device specific.

It is simply downloading the app from iTunes store to your computer.
