Q: My local photo library was on a hard drive that died.

I chose to upload my entire photo library to iCloud. How can I save it back to a local drive?

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

I haven't tried this myself but you may want to try holding down the option key while opening Photos on your Mac. That will give you the option to select an existing Photos library or create a new one. You may be able to create a new one and then in Preferences in Photos select iCloud at the top of the Preferences window and turn on iCloud Photo Library and also select Download Originals to This Mac.

Yes, I figured it out right after I posted that. I just created a new library and then turned on iCloud Photo Library in prefs and it's downloading the whole thing. All 45GB of it.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
