Q: Mac mini 2011 cannot set proper resolution for LG ultra wide 29 monitor.
I recently got a new LG 29 inch monitor for my mac mini 2011. However, I tried everything but the highest resolution I could get is stilled 1920x1080. Is there a way to achieve 2560x1080?
I have tried what others have suggested, a mini-display port to HDMI. However, it does not work for me.
Any suggestion will be helpful.
MAC OS X version: 10.11
Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

Hi, thank you for your answer. However, as a computer science student I did not trust your answer in the first place and gladly I did and now I have solved my problem.
Yes the HDMI converters you mentioned does not solve the problem. And I can confirm with the Moshi one since I owned it and tested it. But there is a kind of converter called Active adapter and in specific this model I picked up on Amazon worked fine.

Now I am able to achieve 2560x1080 on my mac mini 2011 through mini display port through a active mini display port to hdmi adapter and through a hdmi cable that supports 2560x1080. And it now works like a charm.
