Q: Puzzling Internet connection problem.
Puzzling Internet connection problem.
My MBP (13-inch, Mid 2012, OS X 10.11.2) is connected by wifi to the the router (TalkTalk) and the network pane in system preferences confirms this but often, intermittently, when I open a browser window, the progress bar gets to about 15% and stops. It doesn't matter which browser – I have Safari, Firefox and Chrome. When this happens Mail shows a warning triangle with the message “Account Error”.
Some other services seem to work as expected: I wrote this document on the MBP and saved it to iCloud Drive, then updated it and the changed version was immediately available on my iPhone. Or maybe that's what started the browsers and email working again.
Other devices (iPad, iPhone)connect wirelessly without problems.
If this was a Windows machine I'd suspect a service has stopped – is there a similar diagnosis for OS X?
I also get system lockups and kernel panics quite frequently. I wonder if these are all related and, if so, what I should do to fix them.
OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)
