Q: Distributed Processing - Shared Computer Status
Compressor 4.2.1
I have 2 mac mini's located on a different subnet which I have set up for distributed processing. If a user is logged into the mac mini's, they show a status of IDLE in Apple Compressor, under SHARED COMPUTERS and are included in the distributed processing (this is good). The problem is that once a user logs off of the mac mini's or puts them in sleep mode, the show a status of UNAVAILABLE in Apple Compressor, under SHARED COMPUTERS and are NOT included in the distributed processing.
I can work around the sleep mode issue by simply turning it off on the mac mini's. In addition, I could also enable Automatic Login (SYSTEM PREFERENCES --> USERS & GROUPS) on the mac mini's so that a user is always logged into those machines, however this would allow anyone to use these machines and is not a desirable solution.
The optimal solution would be to either include logon credentials when submitting a batch for distributed processing or the ability to setup Apple Compressor as a daemon so that it could run in the background. I don't believe these solutions are possible, however I would love to be wrong with my assumption. If this is not possible, I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if so, how they were able to get around this issue. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
