Q: "the installer disc cannot be found"

iMac 21.5" Mid 2011

2.8Ghz i7

8Gb RAM

1Tb HDD

OS X 10.11.1 (El Capitan)

Trying to use Boot Camp Assistant 6.0.0 install Windows 8.1

I downloaded the ISO from Microsoft.  I used Disk Utility on 10.9.5 to burn the ISO to a DVD.

I used Boot Camp process to download the Apple driver set to a USB thumb drive.

I run Boot Camp, select "Install Windows 7 or later version" and continue.

The error "The installer disk could not be found. Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized."

I've tried the process using a Windows 8.1 USB installation thumb drive.  Same problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

    1. Please verify the integrity of the ISO that you have downloaded. You will need to ask Microsoft for the hash (MD5 or SHA1) and compare it what you have.

    2. Do not use a mixed 32-bit/64-bit ISO. Such ISOs are usually more than 4GB in size.

    3. Try to download a single 64-bit ISO from Microsoft again and try.

    4. If the DVD that you burned mounts and shows Windows Installer files, the burning process is fine.
