Q: 8gb of 'phantom' photo's - Help with locating and deleting these photo's.
Hi, I have a Mid 2011 MacBook Air, currently running OS X El Capitan. I am having trouble with what seems to be 8.17gb of photo's stored on the hard drive when I have always kept my files stored on an external drive.
I previously used OS X Yosemite and the Photos/photo stream application, I stored all my files on my external drive but I later found out it stores small thumbnail images on the internal hard drive. Since updating to El Capitan I removed all the old photo library files and the new version holds very little data. When I access 'About my Mac / Storage' it still shows 8.17gb of photo's but I just can't see where they can be. I have ran Omni Disk Sweeper software and that does not show anything that large either. I have attached a screen shot so you can see what I mean. I hope this makes sense! I don't mind wiping the hard disk and starting again but i'm just very curious/frustrated that I can't find a 'normal' solution.
Thanks
Steve

That display from your MBP is often incorrect and cannot be relied upon. Often, but not always, it can be corrected by reindexing Spotlight>
