what I do see is a grey textured screen with a darker gray apple, below that is my administrator picture in a circle, below that my Administrator /computer name. Click on the ad/computer name and I get a text box for my password, below that 3 options buttons: Sleep Restart or Shut Down.
If I type the password (administrator/computer) it goes on into my desktop picture and loads the dock etc..
Normal startup for me would be to go directly to the desktop /picture/dock screen without going into the login screen

Jan 12, 2016 1:01 PM in response to cyber rookieby my ginger,Ah. OK. you can change the option to login so it will go to desktop at start up by going to system preferences/security-click on the lock and enter password. Then uncheck disable automatic.
