Jan 12, 2016 11:41 AM in response to Loner Tby Alex Cord,Ok, followed the steps re, ethernet, smc, nvram etc but still exactly the same result.
How do I do a "legacy" install?
Happy to have it set in stone with a 2tb OSX and 1tb Windows 10.
Many thanks in advance

Jan 12, 2016 2:31 PM in response to Alex Cordby Loner T,Boot Camp: Remove Windows from your Mac to remove Windows. Do not use Disk Utility. Once it has been removed use BCA and use only the Install Windows Option.

Jan 12, 2016 2:36 PM in response to Loner Tby Alex Cord,Hi Loner T,
Yes I have been using BC to remove the Windows partitions during my attempts.
So to bring you up to date with the latest.
Just for a test I even restored the machine to Yosemite and tried and install and still exactly the same problem, Also tried creating the Windows partition large enough to force the OSX partition beneath the 2tb size which I understand can cause issues but no luck.
My machine is now completing a completely fresh (from USB) El Capitan install.
Frustrating is not the word. Maybe I should have just bought an Alienware PC lol.
Clearly I am in a minority with my issues as there is not an awful lot of info out there.
Any last ideas?
Regards

Jan 12, 2016 2:52 PM in response to Alex Cordby Loner T,Run BCA and remove the current BC Partition, if you still have it. This will make the Fusion drive a single OSX drive. Post the output of diskutil cs list.
We try and manually create a BC partition. If you want to keep the partition for Windows smaller than 1 TB, manual partitioning can accommodate a request for something smaller. The parts after the BC partition can be absorbed into the main OSX part easily. This will also allow a legacy installation.

Jan 12, 2016 3:13 PM in response to Alex Cordby Loner T,We are going to use diskutil cs resizeStack command. The command reduces the CS volume to 1.5TB, creates a 700Gb Bootcamp and the REMAINDER is a HFS+ disk slice which we will add (after verification of the output) back into the CS volume. I assume you have good back ups of OSX, and it can be restored, if necessary.
In OSX Terminal type the following command. The following command is a single line.
diskutil cs resizeStack BB6A5140-0084-4C95-84C0-CB48CD8D238D 393345D6-5037-4BF3-9CA5-763DCAF5B1A9 1500g fat32 BOOTCAMP 700g jhfs+ REMAINDER 0g
Please post the output of the command and the output of
sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk1
sudo fdisk /dev/disk1
This is the syntax.
diskutil cs resizestack
Usage: diskutil coreStorage resizeStack
lvUUID|MountPoint|DiskIdentifier|DeviceNode [pvUUID] size
[part1Format part1Name part1Size part2Format part2Name part2Size
part3Format part3Name part3Size ...]
Resize both a logical volume and one of its underlying physical volumes in a
single operation. A single physical volume is always chosen for the underlying
shrink or grow, even if the logical volume's logical volume group is backed by
more than one physical volume. If you do not specify a particular physical
volume, then one is chosen for you. Note that if this is a grow operation,
this verb is limited by the physical volume's partition's room to grow.
Specifying zero as the size asks for an "automatic" grow-to-fill operation.
If this is a shrink operation, you can optionally request that new partitions
be created in the newly-formed free space gap in the partition map.
Again, note that this only resizes one of the underlying physical volumes; if
you need more sophistication in managing your topology, you should use the
separate physical and logical volume resize verbs.
Example: diskutil coreStorage resizeStack
11111111-2222-3333-4444-555555555555 10g JHFS+ New 1g

Jan 12, 2016 3:29 PM in response to Alex Cordby Loner T,Run a SMC/NVRAM Reset. Shutdown your Mac, connect your W10 USB Installer, power up and hold the Alt/Option key and select the Windows icon from the USB (do not use EFI boot). Select the BOOTCAMP partition in Windows Installer, choose Format, and the click Next. If Windows installs properly, we can extend the OSX volume to absorb REMAINDER.

Jan 12, 2016 4:08 PM in response to Loner Tby Alex Cord,Hi, followed your instructions to the letter but same error when starting except it is in a much lower res, guessing the drivers haven't been loaded.
Unless you have any brainwaves it might be best if I give up on this task. If so, I would really appreciate it if you could give me the terminal commands to merge the drive back together again otherwise I can just go for a straight install again as I haven't installed all the apps yet.
Many thanks for all of your help though!!!

As a test, can you try to install W8.1?
