Q: How do I correct an incorrect password in mail

When I try to send mail from my iPad Air, OS 9.2, I get an error stating my password is incorrect, with just an OK button.  How do I correct it?

Delete the account from your iPad and add it back.

I tried that, but unfortunately, I get the same error message.

I can receive email messages in Mail on my google imap account on both my iPad Air and iPod5, but can only send messages from the Google mail app. When I try to send a message in Mail, I still get an error message saying user name or password is wrong.

I'm having this issue as well.  Didn't have issues on my previous iPhone 5s on iOS 9.1.  Upgraded to an iPhone 6s Plus last week and was required to upgrade to 9.2 before I could restore the phone from the last backup of my 5s.  Update/restore went fine.  Now, I can receive emails in the Mail app, no problem, but when I go to send an email I get an error message saying my username or password is incorrect.  I've verified the password's correctness, re-entered the password, and have deleted and re-added the Hotmail account on my phone, still with no luck.

Another thing to note is on my iMac at home, I'm getting an error message saying my password needs to be updated in settings, although I still receive messages in the Mail app.  Haven't attempted to send a message yet though.
