Q: Help with Audio not playing - iMac running Windows 7

My Intel Core i5 iMac 27, running Windows 7 Home Professional with Bootcamp - cannot play audio - through internal or external "headphone" jack to peripheral.

Have re-started in Apple OS and did updates, and the audio worked fine in that environment - so its not the equipment - but likely a driver issue.(?)

My Device Manager in Windows 7 shows two High Definition Audio Device drivers, which i have uninstalled and reinstalled, after rebooting several times.

Play back devices menu shows

- Digital Audio (S/PDIF) as default device

- Digital Audio (HDMI) Not plugged in

Can anyone help me return audio playback? Greately appreciate any assist.

1. Do you still see a faint red light in the Audio jack?
2. On the Windows side, if you run msinfo32, what is the BIOS Mode setting?

Yes, just this morning i lost the sound.

I fear having to reinstall Windows, but wonder if there is anything else before that....and or I need to appreciate what that would mean, in terms of storage, settings etc....perhaps there is a link for an article or help section in Apple....

Do you have Windows Automatic Updates turned on? What is the your GPU card? Can you take a screen shot (use Snipping tool) of Audio Devices?

In Device Manager, click on View and choose 'Show Hidden Devices'. What new devices do you see?

None of these are related to Audio. I will check my rMBP with nVidia card and verify the drivers.

On my 2013 rMBP with nVidia GT750m, the Audio devices are

This has the Cirrus devices. You can try the nVidia drivers for your specific card and try to install these to find the embedded Audio devices.

I tried to upgrade, or change the Display Adapter, the GT750, and now it reverted to Standard VGA Display Adapter....starting another problem with a stretched screen.

How do I re install the Cirrus Driver? Its not showing up in search, and is it on a disc from the original OS thing?

Also, should I take care of this, or any other display problem, in WINDOWS 7 or in MAC?
