Q: iPad Pro..keeps trying to wake

Although I am working constantly w a very experienced and knowledgeable senior tech on this matter, thank you Mattew, I want to put this out there to see if others are experiencing this issue.

When set in "stand" mode and only "stand" mode w the iPad Pro keyboard the device keeps trying to wake.  I was given a work around to turn off lock/unlock which is a minor issue for me, but none the less annoying, keyboard was replaced twice and new iPad was also shipped....the issue was not resolved

I can't begin to relay my disappointment w Apple and the delays it is taking to solve the problem

I need to know if I am the only person in the world that is having this issue as tech support can't or won't tell me

Thank you in advance for any and all info

Michelle

yes im in touch with apple but im not happy at all. ive only had it for weeks and already its not working as it should.

i found two other posts about the same thing.

    ill post them here

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7373749?start=0&tstart=0

[They really make it difficult to edit these posts] i dont know if one of theses posts aew yours.

Do i understand this corectly, you had this problem, Apple exchanged it fot a new one and its still happening?

one of these posts reconns that it is the keyboard, so im going to try taking it off today and see if it still wakes up. of course appart from the frustration of it waking up, it runs the battery down too.

i also noticed the last couple of times that i powered down, it disen't go off straight away, the. apple comes up a few times before powering down.

let me know how you get on please?

I have the same problem. It hasn't caused me any major problems, but it's definitely a glitch. I have no idea what the problem or solution is.

Apple gave me a work around, go into settings/general and turn off "lock/unlock" you will have to use the lock button to turn it off/sleep. The gentleman I have been working w is quite helpful in calming me down, and trying to get the issue resolved but having said that Its getting old :/

the engineers working on my first iPad seem to thing a iOS update will fix the issue

also note this is my third  keyboard and  second iPad....it does not happen when the iPad keyboard is removed

thank you for replying Audrey I hope this helps you and thanks for replying at least I know I'm not the only one :/

I am also having this issue and only when the keyboard is plugged in.  iPad Pro is 2 weeks old, Smart Keyboard is less than 1 week old.

Thank you for replying to the thread, I neglected to say in my other replies that Apple engineers have my old device and keyboard and are testing to see if it's a software or hardware issue.  They had me do a series of tests and take videos of them, which I did.....so now I/we wait and hope an iOS update will correct the issue and it's not a hardware problem :/

I should clarify too... I only see this happening when my iPad Pro has the Smart Keyboard connected AND it is plugged into a power source but not covering the screen.  Not sure if that was what you see, but that is really the only abnormality I experience.

Same problem here, exactly as stated. Would love a fix, it's driving me crazy, and I can't help but think it is very widespread.

I am still having this issue on 9.2.1. It always happens to me when the keyboard is flipped around the back of the iPad Pro.

That is a much clearer way of saying what I am experiencing as well.  After a couple weeks with the iPad Pro and a week with the Smart Keyboard, it only happens when it is in that position.

That has been my experience, too. It always happens when it is set in the stand position, but with the keyboard in the back (not being used).

Also, someone mentioned that it only happened for them when it was being charged, so I tested and found that it happens for me whether it's being charged or not.

Has anyone said anything about the frequency of the problem? I only mention it because it seems like it would be important to figuring out what's causing the problem. I haven't timed it, but I'd guess that it happens every 5-10 minutes when the iPad is sitting idle, and it stays on for about 5 seconds or so each time.

Does that seem typical for the rest of you?
