If you rather not go through the upgrade process, you have the Mozilla Firefox web browser that CAN be upgraded/updated without having to upgrade/update your OS X system

Good Luck!

Jan 15, 2016 7:49 AM in response to Csound1by WZZZ,Browser preferences are personal--much to do with the UI. I happen to think FF beats Safari hands down, since it's much more customizable + there are extensions, like NoScript and others, to keep you safe. Besides that, it gets patched for web based vulnerabilities much more often than any newer version of Safari. (However, this must all be taken with the caveat that FF, as we know it, is soon enough--maybe by mid-year 2016--about to get the heart ripped out of it by some idiots at Mozilla, to make it look more like Chrome, which will kill off many, if not most, current addons. New web engine also, Servo. No idea what browser I will use when that happens.)
But the important point in all of this is that Snow Leopard Safari is years out of date, and definitely no longer safe to use. So, either upgrade (depending whether or not it will mean the loss of apps, no longer compatible, or more expense to buy newer versions, or more RAM) to get a newer version of Safari. Or go to Firefox, at least for the time being.

Gee, there's a reasoned response. Firefox is much better in several ways that happen to matter a lot to me (yes, it's a personal choice, but one feature in particular is still not a satisfactory option in Safari), and I don't have to stay on Apple's preferred upgrade cycle to keep using it productively.
