After upgrading to El Capitan iPhoto simply crashes when I try to open it.
No iPhoto in Mac App Store either
Had iPhoto update from March (?) but unable to install it.
Please advise.

Jan 15, 2016 3:54 PM in response to Sergio Barcellosby jreimer421,I just had the exact same thing happen! It says iPhoto is compatible with OS X El Capitan but I can't update iPhoto in the app store for it to work! Help!

So, everyone had a year to figure out what to do with whatever photos they had stored in that application and then migrate them to the new program. Read the following article to learn how to open your pictures in Photos.

If it is in your Purchases, then see here: Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store
However, you should give Photos a try as iPhoto is no longer supported.
