If you have not yet done so, it may help to update your watch to the latest software:
- Update the software on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Also check your watch settings. On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Sounds & Haptics:
- Check that Silent Mode is not turned on;
- Check that the Alert Volume is in your preferred position;
- Check that Haptic Strength is set to the middle or far right hand side of the slider.
Otherwise, try unpairing and re-pairing your watch. The Watch app on your iPhone takes watch backups automatically, including a fresh one when unpairing via the app. Choose to restore the watch (Restore from Backup) when offered the option during set up. Most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions (eg Apple Pay cards, passcode).

Thank you for your advice. I have tried all the above with no success. I get the start tones on the count down and I get the halfway tone but don't get the every Km tone for some reason its disappeared. I guess its a trip back to Apple?

Given the steps that you have already tried, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation for further assistance - including, if necessary, to arrange for your watch to be checked under warranty:
