Jan 16, 2016 10:26 AM in response to marcos1313by KGeez00,I have a similar problem. My rather large iTunes Library with all my iTunes and Movies are on an external WD 2TB drive connected via Thunderbolt and I'm running on iMac — OS X El Capitan version 10.11.2. an no matter what I do, it will not load on my Apple TV, 3rd generation (ATV) or allow Home Sharing on other devices which are all updated. Just to be clear, I have never experienced problems before.
I have followed the Apple Support trouble shooting guides and also looks at other forums and see that my problem isn’t unique. I had no problem until I changed my Apple ID a few months ago. (This was for security reasons). I updated my devices with the latest password, mainly the ATV and my iPad, and everything seemed in order, then I tried to view a movie I had recently purchased from iTunes and I noticed that my “Computer” would not load on ATV. I reset the ATV. I reset my Home Sharing on iTunes, I reset my passwords and I updated my WiFi Network to make certain all devices were linked. I resorted the ATV to factory settings and re-entered the correct passwords and Network. I even restored my iPad as well.
On my iPad I can see the Home Sharing Icon which gives my Library name and if I go to ‘Music’ on my iPad and click on ‘Shared’, I can see my iTunes Library loading, it gets halfway and stops then a window pops up stating “Unable to turn on Home Sharing”.
I know all passwords are the same, I know the Network is linked.
Can anyone provided and answer or a reason, why my iTunes Library and Home Share file will not load?
