Jan 16, 2016 10:12 AM in response to LucyLuLuuby ChrisJ4203,There is not an option without a computer. You will need to borrow one with iTunes installed. You can only restore the device from the computer in this instance.

Jan 16, 2016 10:18 AM in response to LucyLuLuuby ChrisJ4203,You have the ability to do most everything without a computer, except to restore a device that is locked with a passcode. I would question my friends or whomever had access to your device to tell you the passcode they put on it. They are the ones that put you in this position.

You let "someone" change your passcode and the screen blew - that isn't Apple fault but yours.
That someone would need to have known your original passcode in order to change it to a new one, not unless you didn't have one in the first place.
Why not ask that "someone" what the passcode is.
Take some responsibility for your mistake and quit laying blame on Apple.
Enjoy your Android.

Jan 16, 2016 12:20 PM in response to ChrisJ4203by LucyLuLuu,@chris -Yeah, but that's an important one. There are a few more things to add to my android vs iphone list, That's just one
I loved my iphone for a loooong time, just android a better fit for me ☺ ty again, appreciate the info
@razmee-
Screen didn't blow on phone, laptop did, which is why it will be a problem to recover that way . Which us what was in the op. There was also something in there about no computer, yet you post a link to computer recovery. Some people may not understand what to do
After getting misleading info, just for future ref. the next poster seemed to understand my question, i may not like the answer, but at least now i have one.
Yes i can blame apple for not devising a system, after all this time, to do this without a pc. Assuming computer access at all times is assuming too much.
There are a lot of people who, for various reasons, need to recover their phones, but for whatever reason cannot get on a computer.
I don't see how that warrants such a heated response, i mean wow, you love your apple - that's great, but don't assume
Things about situations you don't know about. I dont really feel i need to explain the circumstances in which this happened,
Nor explain my Passcode, or lack thereof, to get a civil answer from a "help" forum. When i answer questions in a forum, especially from a newvoner to that forum, i always try to be welcoming, to set tone for whomever to feel they CAN post without feeling uncomfortable about the response to their query. Just
A bit of food for thought.
Off to see if i can find another solution to this frustrating issue elsewhere.
Have a great day!

Jan 16, 2016 12:40 PM in response to LucyLuLuuby ChrisJ4203,I'm sorry. Glad you enjoy your Android. The fact is, there is no other option to restore a device locked with a passcode that you do not know. The restore from iTunes and the computer will wipe the device an restore the iOS.
I'm guessing from your response that you cannot get the password from the person that applied it. If you do not have access to a computer, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider and they can restore your device.
There is no need for you to get defensive. No one asked you to explain the circumstances of the passcode, just said that either you allowed someone access to your device without a passcode that allowed them to create one, or that they knew your passcode and changed it. None of us really care how it happened, or why it happened. The fact is Apple has it set up that it requires a computer to restore from a forgotten passcode. If your Android allows you to recover without a computer and that is the method you would rather see, then the Android phone is a better choice for you. Make the choice of devices that suits you. Those of us here that take the time to respond here may enjoy using whatever device we want as well. The thing to remember here is it isn't necessary for you to criticize Apple for not designing things in the method you find the most convenient. It is designed the way they do it, and speculation as to why or criticism is not allowed here on the forum.

Take it to your local Apple Store. Make an appointment first. They will be able to assist you.
<edidt> Oops, Chris beat me to it!
