Q: Faulty Mouse Hover Functions in El Capitan

I use an Apple Magic Mouse, and since updating to El Capitan, my cursor won't stay in the pointer state when I hover over a link. It changes from the arrow to the pointer for a fraction of a second, but then jumps back to the normal arrow.

This is very frustrating, for as a web designer - I'm not always sure whether my links work or not.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi bloomerang,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

It looks like the cursor isn't behaving correctly when using your Magic Mouse in OS X El Capitan. I can see how that would be frustrating in your line of work.

A few questions that come to mind first--Is the behavior consistent across multiple web browsers or just in Safari? Does it happen on every web page or just some of them?

The best place to start with the situation is How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac. Knowing whether the same thing happens in a new user can help fine tune our troubleshooting approach.

You can find some other good steps to try in If your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad aren't working as expected. If these specific steps don't solve it, let us know the results of testing in a new user account (and in safe mode as described in the same article), as well as the answers to my initial questions.

    Sincerely.
