Q: NFL Now Team video segments stall after 1st one plays

I've submitted this as a bug, and this has been confirmed to happen on a friend's new ATV4 as well, but when we launch NFL app, choose a team, and attempt to play video segments, the first selection plays fine.  Subsequent selections just stall with the spinning gear.  Can't grab and play the content.  Happens even if you switch teams and try a segment from another team. This appeared to have been fixed this past week, but is now broken again.  Is this tvOS? or NFL app? or?

    Good day Kevin,

If you are having an issue with a third-party app not functioning as it should on your Apple TV, you should contact the maker of that app. You can find contact information in this article - Contact Apple TV content providers.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Safe computing.

I'm having exactly the same issue with my ATV4 and what's even worse, all my iTunes content, hosted on my Mac mini, that I try to play through home sharing on my ATV4, behaves exactly the same way. I can play the first video fine, but the next video won't even load, all I see is the spinning circle. In fact I can't even load my iTunes library once that happens and I'm forced to reboot the ATV4, after which I can again only play one video. I thought ATV4 will resolve all the reliability issues I had from time to time with my ATV3, but at this point it's even worse, it's basically useless. As for the NFL app, apparently that's the only app having this issue, the NBA, NHL, MLB apps work just fine. It's funny though that my friend, who also has the ATV4, confirmed to me he can play more than one video from the NFL app without any issues, so I have no clue what's going on here.

Then your issue is different from the OP and you should create your own thread so people can offer tips/suggestions for regarding the issues your experiencing.

Kevin, I think I have found the workaround for our problem and it seems to resolve both my home sharing issues as well as our NFL app problems (since the symptoms are essentially the same). I came across another discussion that's not entirely related to what we're discussing here, but it sparked an idea that I have tested and it truly seems to work. It's extremely simple, yet I didn't think of it when I first experienced these issues recently. The thing is Apple TV doesn't close the open apps even when you restart the box and apparently some app/apps then cause these video playback problems we're observing. So instead of rebooting the ATV, just double tap the "home" button on your remote and manually close all apps. Simple as that, suddenly I can play as many videos in my NFL app as I want and my home sharing works again flawlessly too. I guess Apple will probably need to address the memory management a little better in some of their future updates, but for now this is apparently the way to go. Hopefully it'll help you the same way it helped me.
