To stop SMS messages from being shared from your iPhone to your iPad, go to Settings>Messages on your iPhone and turn off Text Forwarding.

I Am sorry because this did not solve it.  There is no text forwarding option on my phone.

MY phone and iPad are both capable of sending texts.  What I would like to do is when I receive a text that it not show up on my iPad or when I delete on my phone it deletes from my iPad also.

The text forwarding option would only be on the phone if you wanted the iPad to also be able to send SMS, not just iMessage. If you have activated iMessage for both devices, the only way to stop it from appearing on both devices is for you to turn it off on one of the devices. If you are logged into iMessage on both devices, it will appear on both devices. Also, as far as deleting, the messages are separate, not like synced mail. You have to delete from each individual device.

Are you saying this does not help your situation? It is what it is. That is how iMessage works on the devices. The only way to change it is to remove iMessage from one of the devices. You cannot selectively have it to where you can send on both, but not receive on both. And the deletion is the way it always has been. You have to delete from both devices.

If you would like to see it work a different way, you have the option to provide feedback to Apple to indicate you would like to see change. Do that via the feedback page http://www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate subject area.

Can you explain why it doesn't help?

The fact that you've marked this thread as solved is going to mean you'll get fewer answers than you might otherwise.

I Want to be able to delete messages from my iPhone and that will also delete them from my iPad.

Does it have anything to do with the Apple ID used under settings-and then the phone number and email address listed under "You can be reached by Imessage at". should these match between both my iPhone and iPa?

As I explained to you earlier, you cannot delete a message on one device and have it automatically deleted on the other device. iMessages are not in sync like that. No matter what settings you have, it will not allow for deleting messages on one device and them automatically get deleted on the other device. I'm sorry that it does not work the way that you would like, but that is the way it works. You have the opportunity to provide feedback to Apple asking for a change to this feature by going to http://www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate subject area. Others have indicated a desire to see that type of behavior. Maybe it would occur in a future update.
