Q: I have a Late 2013 MBP Will not pair with 6s on Blutooth

Read all the postings (lots of old stuff on these communities) and tried every suggestion from trashing plist etc etc . Still cannot get my iPhone 6s to pair with my late 2013 MBP.

For a fleeting moment after pairing it says Connected then Not Connected appears.

Airdrop works but my phone does not appear on the devices screen. So sending photos from iPhone works altho the my avatar does not appear as the sender just my intials & where ever it gets the info ints not the name I use in my Contacts.

Has anyone any idea whats happening. It worked OK until recently.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. See the following for more information. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722

If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity or AirDrop, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204678

A bit more info - In a nutshell my wife & I are on a family plan with cellphones. Every other device we have pairs with each other except these 2 phones. So iPads, keyboards, Beats headphones & we as a family have at least 12 devices, everything except these 2 iphones, pairs. They will not pair with each other either.

They are 'found' on my MBP & iMac, connect then immediately disconnect. We run the latest software on all our devices BTW.

So logically it must be something to do with the cellphones & I had no idea your carrier had anything to do with Bluetooth. Its a PAN so how are they involved? But lets not get sidetracked, we are not novices on Apple but there is little we have not tried from info thats available on these communities.

I wondered if there is some connection with AT &T since I cannot remove my old 5c from the devices list. Yes I have tried every suggestion on the support from trashing plist to reseting SMC not to mention removing every plug-in & everything else!

Looks like a visit to AT&T but from experience they say "Bluetooth" - nothing to do with us!

Thnx for all you replies & when I solve it I will post the solution.

Again, iOS devices are not designed to pair with each other or with a computer (except for personal hotspot). The behavior of being found, connecting and immediately disconnecting is normal.

See: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with another iOS device or with my computer?

Thnx for patience FoxFifth! I am having ore of those Senior Moments I think. Of course when I take time to digest everything I remember iOS doesn't pair for iPhones but it does with iPad with no cellular. Nightmare remembering what does what.

Maybe 9.3 will enable Bluetooth but I suppose there is no reason to with Handoff & Airdrop.

    Best
