Q: I can't send emails from my iCloud account on iPad or iPhone but can from iMac

Hi folks, I have run out of ideas on this, I have even reset the iPad back to new status and setup the iCloud email from scratch but it won't send emails, can receive mail OK.

I setup the account on my work iPhone to see if that worked but the same issue, receives but can't send, but my company Exchange account works fine on both devices.

I tried manually adding the outgoing smtp server for iCloud but that did not work either.

I am based in Germany but travel to Belgium, Netherlands, France and the UK and it is the same in all countries.

Doing mail from iCloud online via browser works fine.

This problem started around the end of the year and I really need a solution please

Thanks

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2, same for iPad

    Hey audible9491,

I understand that you are having issues sending email from your iCloud account on your iOS devices. Let's see if we can get it sorted out.

I know that you have done some extensive troubleshooting on your end, but take a look at the next two articles to check agains what you have done already. I have also highlighted some specific information that may be of some assistance to get you back to sending emails with your iCloud account.

    Get help using iCloud Mail

If you can receive messages but can't send them

Your Internet service provider might be blocking the protocol used to send email (SMTP) across their network. Contact your service provider and ask about SMTP traffic that crosses their network to an external service, such as iCloud. If your service provider blocks SMTP traffic, ask them how you can be exempted from SMTP blocking.

If your service provider isn't blocking SMTP traffic and you still can't send messages, contact iCloud Support for help.

If you need help sending or receiving mail on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    1. Make sure that you're connected to the Internet. Try to open apple.com in Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    2. Go to iCloud.com on a Mac or PC to see if you can receive email for your iCloud account.
    3. Tap Settings > iCloud and turn on Mail on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
    4. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Fetch New Data and turn on Push. Then send an email to your account to see if Push is working.
    5. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars > Fetch New Data. Then Tap your iCloud account and turn on Push. If you have multiple iCloud Mail accounts, you can use Push with one account at a time. Make sure that Push is turned on for your primary iCloud Mail account.
    6. Turn your device off and back on.

If you still can't send or receive mail, turn off each of the settings in steps 3, 4, and 5 above, then turn them back on.

    Take it easy

Hi, thanks for the feed back but it does not solve the problem.

I use multiple service provider when nI travel as well as the permanent one here in Germany and they all give the same problem which brings me back to something with the iPad and iPhone being at fault with the setup.

Adding in addition outgoing mail servers does not help either.

I though resting the iPad back to new status would help but no, so no I guess I will have to contact Apple support and see if they can find a solution.
