Q: iPad Pro..keeps trying to wake

Although I am working constantly w a very experienced and knowledgeable senior tech on this matter, thank you Mattew, I want to put this out there to see if others are experiencing this issue.

When set in "stand" mode and only "stand" mode w the iPad Pro keyboard the device keeps trying to wake.  I was given a work around to turn off lock/unlock which is a minor issue for me, but none the less annoying, keyboard was replaced twice and new iPad was also shipped....the issue was not resolved

I can't begin to relay my disappointment w Apple and the delays it is taking to solve the problem

I need to know if I am the only person in the world that is having this issue as tech support can't or won't tell me

Thank you in advance for any and all info

TO biteme1, this forum only allows me to reply to one or two posts a day which is crazy, however to answer your last question....there is no frequency, it's random, I sat here w my phone and took videos for the engineers took about 10 mins for it to start after hard reboot then it did it every few mins after.  The temp fix of turning off the "lock/unlock" works....although annoying it is a cheap fix....I relayed all this info to my apple case tech and he is supposed to have told engineering....I can only hope it's a software issue and not hardware.  I have had this issue since I got my keyboard about the beginning of December (got iPad two days after it was released in late November) Apple is working on it, they have my first iPad and keyboard...but I guess I am repeating myself

thanks to everyone that has replied now I know it wasn't just me or my environment as suggested by the tech team....if I hear anything from Apple I will let ppl know as my case is "open" until it's resolved

but I urge everyone to call apple support and report the issue....resetting the device as suggested in another forum posting does not work, only messes up your settings

I also am having the same issue and discussed the matter with Apple Support this afternoon, they suspect an issue with the Smart Keyboard and advised to go to one of their stores to get a replacement, as they were unable to arrange a replacement over the phone for some reason, but I doubt getting another keyboard is going to correct the problem.

As ToXic has stated, if you are having the same problem, please contact Apple Support.  The new iOS 9.2.1 hasn't fixed the random waking for me and I don't think Apple is even treating it as a software problem yet.

Xavier, Don't waste your time.....new keyboard won't fix it....this is my third....iOS 9.3 is out in beta....but I'm not going to bother w it

they wanted me to take iPad and keyboard to Apple Store but the closet one to me is 2 hours away :/

thank you for replying....I'm passing this along to my tech guy.....although I am pretty sure it's pit of his hands now

but yes PLEASE everyone contact apple support

I'm having this issue too. LOL, it's sort of the opposite of the original problem with the Pro: After fully charging, it wouldn't turn on. Now it wants to turn on all the time. Weird.

Just want to say that I have this exact issue as well. I will contact support about it. I'd imagine this is something easy for them to fix in a future software update more than it is a hardware thing.

    Hi everyone,

I have this issue as well.

Having spoken to Apple Support, they also suggested we submit feedback via: http://www.apple.com/feedback/. Apparently, the feedback goes directly to the product team.

Be sure to select the "bug" category in the feedback form.

Hopefully Apple team can address this issue soon, as it is clearly affecting the battery as well.

    Cheers.

I also have this issue. It happens when my iPad Pro is in "Type" and "Watch" mode. (See images below...)

When the iPad Pro (iPad, from here on out...) is connected to the Apple Smart Keyboard (keyboard, from now on...), the screen turns on and off at an interval of several minutes.

I haven't yet tested to see if the screen turns on and off when it is in cover mode. Because, honestly, I didn't want to squint in the crack between the cover and the iPad for the ten minutes, or so, that it would take to see if it's doing it. Ya, know?

I also have not tested to see whether, or not, is it doing it when connected to power, only because my IT Geek Kung-Fu is telling me that this path of trouble shooting is empty of its own meaning. (Sound of large Chinese gong!!!)

The truth that remains evident, in my case at least, is that the screen turns on and off (displaying the Lock Screen) when my iPad is connected to the keyboard, and it does not exhibit this behavior when it is not. (Oh, the Zen of it, yes?)

Since the issue clearly seems to be with the connection between the keyboard and the iPad, and how iOS handles the interaction between the two of them, one can only hope that Apple hears our prayers and comes down from upon high to bestow an expedient blessing to the current version of iOS (9.2.1 as of this writing), so that we, their humble and ardent followers can return to praying at the alter of thin and fast connected technology. Ahmen.

By the way, my altar also contains the mystical Apple Pencil relic.

I do not know if Pencil is related to this crisis of faith. But, it felt good to say that I have one publicly.

I have been having the same problem since I've been using the smart keyboard as well. It doesn't matter if it is standing, folded back or even closed. It is constantly coming on. You are probably wondering how I know it is on when the keyboard is closed over the screen but I see the glow from under it at night. The only time it seems to not happen for me is when it is charging. It is sucking my battery like crazy.

Yikes, why so serious?  I have the same issue as well and it is moderately annoying but far from serious.  I also submitted a bug report to Apple, so hopefully this will be addressed in the next release.

Apple released an update for this issue early this morning, I downloaded it and everything is (fingers crossed) running smoothly.  If you havent gotten notification simply put your iPad in keyboard position and it should pop up.  Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread and happy typing
