Q: Why does auto-Exchange-setup work for OS X Mail but not on iOS?

I just started working for a new company which isn't supporting Macs or iOS devices. An Exchange server is in place and by just entering my email/password in the OS X account tab, I was able to tap into the Exchange server environment. It was a breeze! However, when I try the same on my iOS device, I am required to enter more information like a server address and it gets stuck with a "information cannot be verified" error message. Does anyone have an idea why it works on OS X and not on iOS? Could it be that only one single device is allowed to work with Exchange?

I'm also looking for an answer to this one. On OS X (El Capitan) Mail, I entered my email/password, then when prompted, my username and internal server details (I used the web address for outlook web access, as in owa.companyname.com). Mail then did all the rest and it works beautifully. On iOS though, I'm prompted for "server" and "domain". If I try entering the same details here, and leave "domain" blank (it says it's optional), I have no luck and get the same error. Any ideas?

OS X Mail and iOS Mail use completely different methods of communicating with the Exchange server.

You can try downloading the Spark email app for iOS and set it up with your usual credentials as you did in OS X Mail. The auto-setup worked for me using Spark, so I just use that instead of iOS Mail app.
