Dec 5, 2015 7:35 AM in response to burdell1by léonie,Photos cannot merge libraries, but you can open as many libraries in Photos as you like.
To open your iPhoto Library in Photos drag the iPhoto Library onto the Photos icon in the Dock. This will create a new Photos library from it and open it in Photos.
See this help page on how to work with more than one Photos Library: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6d60b524

You can export photos from iPhoto and import into Photos
YOu can start over migrating your current iPhoto library (this of course will con contain any thing you have added or modified using Photos since the original migration)
YOu can have multiple Photos libraries adn move photos between them using the paid version of PowerPhotos
Without more details we can lnly make guesses and suggestions

Dec 6, 2015 7:44 AM in response to Old Toadby burdell1,If i combine it my iPhotos library will it increase the size of the my Photos library by the same amount of gigabytes my iPhoto library is?

Dec 6, 2015 9:44 AM in response to burdell1by LarryHN,What is "it" and what are you planning on doing and how does this relate to your original question? Neither Photos nor iPhoto supports "combining" libraries.
Nothing you do in iPhoto has any effect on Photos - they are two separate programs with no connection
When you do a migration from iPhoto to Photos very little extra space is used - Photos saves disk space by sharing images with your iPhoto or Aperture libraries - Apple Support
Please clarify your new question

Dec 7, 2015 5:33 AM in response to LarryHNby burdell1,Sorry..the "it" was a mistake.
I could create a new Photos library by dragging my iPhoto library to the Photos icon in the dock and then combine those two Photos libraries with PowerPhotos but i'd rather not do that cause I'm afraid (on the off chance) some of the photos in my original Photos library might get deleted.

Dec 11, 2015 5:52 AM in response to Old Toadby burdell1,If anyone else is trying to do this, don't. After trying several times to have the iPhoto library be imported into this library, i finally gave up and reverted back to the backup. However, now i can't get all my devices photo libraries to sync. so if anyone out there who reads this is thinking about trying this, DON'T! it isn't worth it.
