Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have a Sharp AR 6518 printer and you would like to use it with your Mac. According to the following article, this printer does not have a driver supported by Software Update on your Mac.
Printer and scanner software available for download for your Mac - Apple Support
However, you may still be able to use this printer by using a generic printer driver. To try a generic driver, please use the following instructions.
1. Make sure your Sharp printer is turned on and connected to your Mac via USB or is on the same Wi-Fi network
2. Select the Apple logo in the upper left corner of your display and choose System Preferences
3. Select Printers & Scanners
4. Select the “+” at the bottom of the left sidebar to add a printer
5. Select your Sharp printer from the list
6. A name should pop up in the bottom section of that same window followed by a “Use” section. Select the Use dropdown menu
7. You may see a couple of generic drivers here (Generic PostScript printer and Generic PCL printer). If one doesn’t work, test the other as well.
Cheers!
