Q: Missing operating system Macintosh partition

Trying to install Windows 7 partition using .iso.

errors "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically" / couldn't find the drivers.

In system repair i set the active partition to the 200MB "partition 2".

Restarted the computer holding alt and the Windows partition no longer shows up. Booted to macintosh and it says "missing operating system"

Freaking out as I can't boot into either partition now. Help!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

You want to download drivers for W7 from Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support and replace the $WinPEDriver$ and Bootcamp folders the W10 USB folders from the corresponding W7 folder. You also want to copy the W7 AutoUnattend.xml and overwrite the W10 version on the USB.

This should allow W7 drivers to support Startup Repair.

The 6.0.6133 drivers are for W10.

Thanks again for your help and paitience as I struggle through this!

I replaced the W10 drivers with correct W7 files on the USB. When I reebooted on the flashdrive I got to the Windows install screen, language settings but had no cursor or way to get to the next screen. Waited 5 minutes, still no cursor. Plugged in a mouse, nothing.

Rebooted into OSX and opened BCA. It prompted "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored into a single partition."

I Went to startup disk in system preferences and selected Macintosh HD, restart. it restarted onto the flashdrive, not Macintosh HD. After shutting down and holding alt-power the only option was to start up on the flashdrive. Macintosh and Windows are both gone.

It seems like I have massivly messed up here, sorry! Any idea why there was no cursor? Also, I don't know how to boot into Mac again.

You may not have messed up. Can you run the following two procedures and see if you can get back to OS X. Do not run BCA, it will just cause more pain.

Okay after running those two procedures my options for booting are windows (bootcamp USB), "Untitled" (USB with OS X), and Recovery-10.9.5.
    No Macintosh.

Did you see two selections from a USB (Windows and OS X)? In your original listing, you show the internal disk, a 16Gb disk and a 750GB disk. Do you have a USB hub with two separate disks. The 750Gb disk shows only a  Macintosh HD.

Yes I have 2 16GB flash drives in my computer, one is the OS X we installed when the mac side disappeared initially, I used to to do the SMC reset. The other USB has the windows 7 drivers set up in BCA. In the original listing I only had the Windows USB connected.

Let us first try and get your OS X working. It will also help in disconnecting the USB with OS X from your Mac, so we can boot from internal disk and then try to address Windows Recovery.

Boot from the OS X USB icon, and post the output of

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

    diskutil list

Can you post the output of

    sudo dd if=/dev/disk0s2 count=5 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

The two partition types are incorrect. The second one is recovery HD, but we need to determine OS X (whether it is JHFS+ or CS) before I suggest the steps.

Is the version of OS X on the USB older than the OS X version on the internal disk?

What happened to the parts between 150 and "0a0"

    sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s2 count=5 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

You can update 10.9 (which originally shipped with your Mac) to Yosemite (10.10) via App Store, but be aware that updating a USB may be slow.
