Jan 4, 2016 8:00 AM in response to Stephen M Y Chengby jason269,Hello, Stephen.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to update applications after upgrading to El Capitan. Here are a couple of troubleshooting resources that I would go through when experiencing this issue.
Mac App Store: "An unknown error occurred (100)" when purchasing
OS X: "Cannot connect" or "Cannot connect to the App Store. An internet connection is required"
Cheers

Jan 22, 2016 5:10 AM in response to jason269by Stephen M Y Cheng,Thanks Jason, but I have been trying many times but in vain. I can update other APPS but not FCPX and iPhoto. It says "Update unavailable with this Apple ID - this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." It doesn't make any sense to me as I bought the FCPX many years ago, and keep updating different versions of FCPX all these years. The updating of FCPX just doesn't work in the new El Capitan. Does anyone has any idea?

Jan 22, 2016 5:18 AM in response to Stephen M Y Chengby bigschwabbel,Make sure you have a recent backup.
Open App Store and make sure you are logged in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the apps.
Check your purchases to make sure the apps are actually in the list of purchased items.
Delete the apps from your Mac.
Reinstall the apps from the App Store.

Jan 22, 2016 5:46 AM in response to bigschwabbelby Stephen M Y Cheng,Thanks bigschwabbel, just tried to delete FCPX. APPs store shows that I have not bought FCPX!!! My god! I have compressor and motion now, but not FCPX. There must be something very ridiculous with Apple store!

Jan 22, 2016 6:18 AM in response to Eau Rougeby Stephen M Y Cheng, after I uninstall the FCPX, it disappears in the purchase section of the apps store, under my account's name. I now have the MOTION and COMPRESSOR, but not FCPX. How come!? Thanks Eau, anyway! I am making enquiry to my account with Apple to find the way to sort it out!

Feb 7, 2016 5:26 AM in response to Stephen M Y Chengby Stephen M Y Cheng,The problem was solved. For reason unknown, the FCPX was refunded a few years ago to my credit card account a few years ago. This is the reason I cannot get updates to my FCPX. I buy it again!
