Q: What if I want to sync my music the old way but still want to save reference to Apple `for you` playlists, without downloading them?
Hi, my music library is huge and contains some ineligible music but the one that really matters for me, and also a lot of tracks that keep `waiting`.
It a nightmare because some day when you will want to return to one special song on your device it would turn out that it didn't sync.
So the solution is to go back to old syncing. So I need to disable iClound media library.
But I really love `for you` playlists and I want to see the ones I marked with ♥️. But to do that I need to enable iClound media library.
I guess there is no solution for this dilemma, but maybe someone has a better idea...?

I have the exact same issue, so many of my songs are incorrectly matched that I cannot use icloud music library, I have many lossless songs which I would like to be able to enjoy the extra quality of so I cannot use icloud music library. I frequently travel and listen to my music on the plane and abroad, due to the common issues of icloud music library randomly deleting songs that have been made available, I cannot use icloud music library.
If I want to use apple music I have to enable icloud music library or have massively limited functionality, no offline listening or customised playlists. I went along to the apple store to ask how I can sync my music locally whilst still using apple music to add songs to playlists and I was told, categorically, it's not possible. I shall be returning to Spotify.
