Jan 23, 2016 1:15 PM in response to cohalonby Kappy,This is not a Windows support site. You might visit the Windows forums at MS or use Google to search for the reviews, etc. to help make your decision,, Obviously, MS main support is for Win 10.

Jan 23, 2016 1:28 PM in response to Kappyby cohalon,This was a question, not request for support.
This was a question, for Mac users, regarding a preference.
If you use, do you have one?

Jan 23, 2016 1:37 PM in response to cohalonby Kappy,This is not a topic suitable for this site which is for Macs, not Windows except for installing it on a Mac. You might check out the Apple Support Communities - Terms of Use.

Jan 23, 2016 1:38 PM in response to cohalonby Kappy,I could care less about what OS you want to use. I've pretty much used all of them.

Jan 23, 2016 1:46 PM in response to Kappyby cohalon,Well then, my apologies.
May I add here, I'm not sure, or should I say, I'm sure, I wouldn't know how to categorise my support search.
But as I mentioned, this was no Support request.
Thank you though.

Jan 23, 2016 1:58 PM in response to cohalonby BobTheFisherman,Any Windows site forum users would be able to tell you which operating system 8.1 or 10, is better in general.
With respect to Boot Camp here are the Windows versions supported:

Jan 23, 2016 2:24 PM in response to BobTheFishermanby cohalon,I know which one is better in general. I own them both.
My question, was from the Apple's user perspective.
FYI, I have installed Win10 on my Apple but it lacks all(!) the good HW capabilities.
My question then, was appealing to the Apple user experience.
I am sure the W word does it to you guys.
Nevertheless, thank you for the attention and time.

If you know which is better then use that one. I'm using Windows 10 as I type this so your remark "I am sure the W word does it to you guys." is meaningless to this discussion. If your computer supports both versions then why would you even ask if you know one works better than the other. Boot Camp support means they both will work, minus any touch screen functionality.

Jan 23, 2016 2:34 PM in response to cohalonby Loner T,Under Bootcamp,
a. On a 2015 Mac, W10 is better than W8.1.
b. On 2013-2014 Macs, either will work.
c. Prior to 2013 Macs, W7 is much better.
d. Prior to 2010 Macs, use WXP SP3.
If you have anything older than 2009, I would not recommend any currently sold version of Windows via Bootcamp. Use a VM engine.
Do not touch Vista under any circumstances on a Mac. You will regret it no end.

Jan 23, 2016 2:37 PM in response to BobTheFishermanby cohalon,I cannot use what I choose (WinXP), I can use what is compatible.
I purchased Win10 because this is what the market wants you to have.
My remark is meaningless? that whole discussion is meaningless and helps me none.
Again, Thank You.

You can use XP. Install it using a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. VirtualBox is free.

Jan 23, 2016 2:53 PM in response to BobTheFishermanby cohalon,Thanks, that is very useful info, but no thanks, I am not up to using Parallel or it's equivalents.
Boot Camp is and was - to me - the topic of this discussion.
Probably, if I can't hold myself, I will purchase Win 8.1 or reinstall Win 10 I have already purchased, and hope/wish the HW will function properly.
Meanwhile, the Apple support for Boot Camp 6.0, is not up to date.

Jan 23, 2016 3:02 PM in response to cohalonby cohalon,I appreciate the knowledge and willing for help, don't get me wrong..
It is very simple, my quest for help/support, I am using a Mac, running (also) Windows 10.
It does not function well.
My question was:
"Would you prefer Windows 8.1? Would it be better for the HW (Mac's) functionality?
I never asked anything about Windows 10. (It's crap, I know it's crap, I don't care it's crap. I never expected anything else. It is not relevant to my query).
